Question
http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps64bcf16d.jpg
These two browns are mature.
Their head length and fin size look about the same.
They are within a year old of each I guess.
One was caught in non-designated trout water.
The other from a well known stream in my homewater.
Why does one have serious shoulders and the other is kinda skinny?
Is this a good genes thing or over population thing?
You ever catch a horse and a skinny in the same hole?

Len, I caught a LMB from a local lake several years ago. On the little scale I had with me it weighed about 5.5 lbs. The head on it was as large as a 7 or 8 lb. fish, the body was more or less skin and bones. I have never caught another fish that large from that lake but most of the fish in it are healthy.

I caught some post Spawn Browns today that appeared healthy but were rather skinny bodied. Typical for fish in East Tenn right after the spawn. Your pictures seem to reflect fish caught in warmer months

Len,
Unless those two trouts were taken from a closed controlled stream section, I could/would not say they were a mere one year apart in maturity. And then again, genes do dictate as does eyesight, A blind(er) trout will be skinnier than a trout with excellent vision. ( All this in a controlled situation as stated above).

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that exercise, and food will make the difference. I have caught trout from
a lake here that Is full of snails and 1/3 of the fish were like footballs (all body/no head). Those in faster water tend to be slimmer.
Just my thoughts.
