Does anyone know if Cabela's (and indirectly Sage) has discontinued the XP again? THe web site says sold out.
From one of the two vendors handling the XP's.
"After 2 years of careful negotiation, Sage has agreed to a special, one time, production run of XP Series Fly Rods"
Not so much discontinued, but possibly sold out. On the other hand, if anyone here was willing to front the dough for say a thousand units, I'd bet they'd make them in any color and put a hula dancer decal on the blank to boot......
Best, Dave
yep, it was just a single run. And they are pretty much sold out. You might call a Cabelas retail location and see if there's one hanging around a store somewhere.
The "other" of the two vendors that got the limited production run of XP's still has a bunch in stock - that'd be Angler's Pro Shop in Souderton, PA.

The owner of Angler's Pro Shop, Bill Hayes, is also an FAOL member. His inventory of Sage rods is enormous! If you are looking for a discontinued Sage rod, Bill is the guy you need to talk to. And as is typical of FAOL members, he's a super nice guy as well.
I have no connection with Angler's Pro Shop other than Bill tapping my wallet on occasion (entirely by my choice).:D
Good advice. I picked on up from a Cabela's store for $100 less than was listed on the web site. It's on its way.
No, 495 was their close out price and I was able to get it for 395 plus about 20 for tax and shipping.
