taped it on stream yesterday. Know it down to the 1/8 inch. Is astounding the variety of guesses. Guy holding fish has big hands.

15.37"
Mike
My guess: 18.42
length was 17 1/8
Based on a typical 1" length of the distal bone of the human index phalange, I scale it at 14".
My guess is 16.23. In case any of you mathematical types are wondering that is the average of the previous 4 guesses. If the wisdom of the crowd works my guess should be very close to the actual length of the fish.
I'm satisfied that my method worked. I was less than an inch off.
At 17 1/8" and being taken out of a stream, that is one heck of a nice fish.

I did this challenge on three areas....guesses varied from 23 to 13.
is amazing the varied guesses.
My estimate was based on a very small sample. If you got a lot of guesses I think if you added them all up and divided them to get the average the answer you'd get would be pretty close.
Just right.
