Other hobbies
Being somewhat inspired by Chris Chin's thread on our handles, I'd like to ask everyone what other hobbies you enjoy aside from fishing and tying. I know many folks have placed some personal info on their profiles, but I'm interested to see whether the majority are artistic, intellectual, athletic, or otherwise inclined.
What keeps you from going nuts when the snow is blowing horizontal and there's ice on the firewood?
I enjoy playing guitar, and painting watercolors.
So, what do you do?

When the snow is blowing, I love to cross country ski. I will occaisionally snow shoe and go into the woods and look for clues about the animals that live there and how they live. (scat, tracking etc).
I also make picture frames and do some matting.
Lastly I make it my job to harrass and embarass D.Micus every chance I get. Fortunately its not to hard to accomplish this http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/wink.gif (Love ya Dave)

Woodworking for me. We, wife son and I have been lucky enough to build a real log cabin near Yosemite, now that it is near done we have a woodshop setup in the garage and find my troubles just go away when I get a chance to be there with my family...
Thanks for asking...
Take care!

I like to look for arrowheads in freshly plowed corn fields after a light rain. My Grandmother on my fathers side was a full blooded Mohawk and this somehow ties me to the past.

For not much longer due to advancing age, Judo and Racquetball. I also golf but that's too docile.
The nice thing about being "older" in these pursuits is the lowered expectations of opponents.
Someone once told me " if you don't use it you lose it".

You mean there is something besides fly fishing and tying?
I'm also a wood worker, building some cabinetry and custom furniture, but mostly I make drums. Everything from small hand drums to large Pow Wow and ceremonial drums.
I'm also a Pow Wow singer/drummer, and sing some ceremonial songs as well.
Several of us work with in the prison system to take the drums and songs in to Native American prisoners, along with some of the old stories and tradions.
I also spend time with some of the veterans returning from Iraq that are having problems.
That pretty much keeps me off the streets and out of the pool halls.

Stained glass artist, but I kinda retired from that for a while (took away from flyfishin'). All my work was original, from drawings I did.
Here lately, I've gotten interested in the propagation of palm trees, and have begun growing high-end palm trees from seed for future resale (in five years or so). And my yardwork is another hobby, I suppose. (Jeese, looking back over my response, no wonder I ain't got time to fish)
