I occasionally watch the referenced tv program. Those guys seem to pretty much rape the land while looking for gold.
Maybe they just don't show it, but are they required to "reclaim" the land?

If you watch some of the specials or last show of the season it will show what a great job they do. Reshape the waste piles, plant trees and native grasses.
The Dirt the show about them before tonights episode showed how they've done and how good it looks. And yes it's the law that they do it!!
