While Tying
Hey guys! I was wondering what everyone's favorite thing to listen to or watch is while tying flies. I like to listen to bluegrass especially instrumental bluegrass while tying. I haven't been tying very long at all but I have found that it is my favorite. What about you guys?

Brandon,
You KNOW what I listen too!! I will be tagging along on this thread just to read what others listen to/watch while tying. Could or should be interesting. By the way, you need to hope and pray the weather allows us to fish this weekend! Stay in touch.

Audio books, mostly on fishing, or a good mystery..

Public Radio, especially Prairie Home Companion, Car Talk, and any of several folk music shows or news programs. Love it all.

I listen to a wide range of music when I am tying. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of music that might be called New Grass, which is kind of a cross between bluegrass and jazz. Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, and Mark O'Conner are some of my favorite musicians. Nickel Creek and the Duhks also fit into that category. I also listen to jazz, classic rock music, bluegrass and blues music.

Sports, either on tv or the radio. If nothings on, then classic rock

Mostly.......the voices....... inside my...... head.......
Then there's always room for one more voice- Bob Marley!
Other suitable (to me) sounds are: my wife turning the pages of her book while I tie next to her, classical music is OK ,too if it doesn't get wound up too tight, reggae, Big Band, traditional and mainstream jazz, Jose Arciniegas and the Vientos de los Andes-traditional acoustic Andean highlands music is also pretty decent to my ears.

I fish, therefore I swam.

Since my tying area is in a corner of the living room, I generally end up listening to whatever my wife wants to watch on TV. We like pretty much the same shows so this works out well.
If I'm tying while my wife is at work, I'll generally put on sports, especially college football or 60's, 70's or 80's rock and roll. And sometimes I'll just listen to the wind and rain. 8T http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif

You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it's a real short camping season.

I like a big variety of music. I LOVE music. I like old country but not new. I like broadway musicals, show tunes, some classical, old pop, chamber music, American Indian music (Carlos Nakai) Nicholas Gunn, Yo Yo Ma (Portrait of Yo Yo Ma)....flutes, harps, violins, piano music. On and on. But when fly tying I like instrumentals. Oh, I left out new age, Yanni, Loreena McKinnet, Josh Groban, Sara Brightman, Henry Mancini, Movie sound tracks, gawd I have a bunch more. My absolute favorites...."Sagebrush Symphony" by Michael Martin Murphy, "Cowboy Songs" by Michael Martin Murphy, and Herb Jeffries....the Bronze Buckaroo. Other absolute favorites..Yanni...."I Love You Perfect" -- "In the Mirrow" and "In My Time"
Dudley....you and I would definitely not be tying in the same room <grin>
Sorry, you ask for a cup of water and I gave you a fire hose! I do like music.
uh...my answer is instrumentals when tying.
