I missed going to the Sowbug Roundup because of the flu. I was feeling a little better by Saturday so I went fishing at Pawhuska Lake. Fished from around 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and caught several rainbows up to 18 or 20 inches. Took a lunch break and fished till dark, catching several more. Sunday afternoon Jimmy D and I went to pond owned by a friend of mine and caught several small bass, a bunch of decent sized bluegills, and 1 nice crappie. It was a good weekend of fishing.

This morning it was 26 degrees with a north wind. I waited until the temp got up to 30 and headed to the river. I only landed 2 stripers and 1 hybrid, but one of the stripers was a nice one, maybe 1 of the 2 that I failed to land last weekend.

The river was at 353 CFS when I got up this morning. I waited til 9:00 and headed that way. The fish were few and far between, but I did manage to land 6 stripers, from 4-6lbs, and hooked 2 bigger ones. There were a lot of ducks and geese on the river, and I even saw 1 pelican.

It has warmed up a bit and the snow has all melted. I watched the flow chart for the Arkansas River steadily drop and decided to go chase stripers. I loaded up the truck and headed to the river. Put on my waders, strung up my 8wt and got down there in time to see the water start rising. Made a dozen casts, walked back to the truck and headed home. Maybe tomorrow.

Made it to the Arkansas River yesterday morning. The air temp was 27 and the water temp was 39. The air temp did warm up a little. Only managed to catch 1 striper and 1 hybrid. Also caught 7 buffalo, but most of them were foul hooked in the dorsal fin. Will try again next weekend.
