Pretty much what you're comfortable fishing with. Uplocking is easier to find, less expensive, and fairly straight forward to install. Yes, I'd get the inletted cork grip, but understand, you may need to do a bit of fine tuning to fit the hood in place. Simple stuff.

How's that rod build coming??

Headed to the hill country it fish a couple of days. Will be fishing the lower Guadalupe River on Oct. 2nd and 3rd.

Hey Ryan , how's it going? Haven't heard from you on the board in a while. Give us an update on the tying progress and the rod building. Hopefully we haven't heard from you because your to busy fishing.

P.S. You should really think about getting in on the novice fly swap. It's a good chance to learn from a great tier.

PS ... I know NOTHING about turning my own wood inserts!! LOL!! I have a hard enough time putting everything together with purchased parts!!!!
