The full collared hackle that wraps all the way around the fly is hen cape. If I was going to tye in a beard instead then I go with one of two materials, Schlappen is one and the other is Hen Saddle. I prefer Hen Saddle because I like the appearance is always easy to find and available and is just a tad larger to work with which in this case makes it easier.. I hope this answered your questions.
