CHRISTMAS TIME IN THE SOUTH

Tom Travis - Dec 16, 2013

I grew up and spent most of my adult life in the North Country where Christmas time was defined by snow and cold and often weeks without a day on the water because of the air temperature or the wind velocity. Now, some look forward to a white Christmas and I surely understand that sentiment, however I now look forward to a green Christmas on the palm-lined saltwater rivers of Florida.

One thing I can tell you; putting up outside decorations is a lot more pleasant in seventy degree weather than it is in the snowy cold of the North Country.

Christmas time is about families and the wonderful times spent together

However, there is also the fishing that is delightful and the sights and wonders of the saltwater which are addictive.

A Colorful Sunset

A feisty Baby Tarpon

A nice hard fighting Jack Crevalle

The friendly curious Dolphin

A friendly Manatee may drop by for a visit.

However, there are many families where a family member will not be home for Christmas as they are scattered throughout the world in the service of their country. Therefore all of us at Fly Angler's Online offer up a prayer for the service men and women of the United States Armed Forces that their family be comfortable and kept safe during the Christmas Season and that each and every member of the Armed Forces are safe and hopefully reunited with their families for next Christmas.

Dear Lord,
Please watch over our Armed Forces as they watch over us, serving to protect our country and our freedom and please God Bless America.

Now from my family to yours, Merry Christmas and have a safe, happy and fish filled New Year!

Enjoy & Good Fishin'
Tom Travis and Family
