Ozark 'FISH-IN 2003'
Sept. 26th through Sept. 28th
White River, Cotter, Arkansas

No, not the record
The White and North Fork Rivers issue respectively from the dams of Bull Shoals Lake and Lake Norfork. These rivers are world famous for rainbow and brown trout. A 1988 world record brown was caught on the North Fork River and weighed in at a whopping 38 pounds, 9 ounces.

White River

maddog48, (Mike Davis), volunteered to put a regional Fish-In here in his home country. RG, (Ron Griffin) has offered to assist - and it should make for a great weekend.

Base for the Fish-In His Place Resort, just outside Cotter, AR is home base for the Fish-In. This is a full service resort, with one room units with full kitchens, two bedroom units and a dorm that sleeps 8 people. There is camping and they plan to have RV facilities by the time of our event in Sept. They do have a private illuminated boat dock, boat & motor rentals, river pontoon rafter rentals, a fly and tackle shop and a covered pavilion where we can also tie. Rates and reservation information are on their website.

His Place Resort

The resort sits on the White River tailwaters fed by the Bull Shoals Dam, creating an exceptionally high quality trout habitat. Water is drawn from deep in Bull Shoals Lake, keeping the river temperature between 48 - 52 degrees. The water right at the resort is wadable!

Regional Map

FlyFishAR has offered to do a program for the group - but the main attraction is the fishing, and putting faces on the names you've seen in the Chat Room or Bulletin Board. For those flying in, nearby commercial airports in Springfield and St. Louis, Missouri; Little Rock, Arkansas; Memphis, Tennessee; and Dallas, Texas are served by United, Northwest, American, TWA, Delta, and Southwest Airlines.

Licenses are available at the resort, as are local flies. The sister branch of the White River, the North Fork River, also offers excellent trout fishing. The North Fork is a short drive from His Place. Recommended flies are Scuds, Sowbugs, Streamers, Woolly Buggers and Denny Conrad recommends a Chili Pepper!

As with all FAOL events, there are no charges or fees for attending and everyone is welcome. You are responsible for your own reservations, transportation and food. FAOL does not makes any arrangements for you.
