REGIONAL FISH-IN 2006
Sept, 24 - Sept. 30th, 2006
Lowell, Idaho
Three Rivers Resort

Denny Conrad, Ron and Vicki Eagle Elk, and Les Young are the Hosts of the Idaho Regional Fish-In at the Three Rivers Resort, Lowell, Idaho this fall. The accommodations, cabins, motel, camping are dandy. FAOL has had several Fish-Ins now at the same place. The fishing is good, and the Hosts wanted to continue the tradition of a fall Fish-In there. So the decision was made to hold a Regional FAOL Fish-In at the same place again in 2006. The date was selected to take advantage of the October Caddis hatch. We hit it on the nose last year! There was also some very interesting fishing on small ants on the upper Selway.

Resort

The Three Rivers Resort is at the confluence of the Locksa, Selway and Clearwater Rivers, and has everything our group needs. There are small cabins, large cabins (accommodating 6 people) A-Frame cabins, and motel rooms. The campsites include water, electricity, hot showers, and all the accommodations have access to the heated swimming pool and 3 jacuzzis.

The resort has a gift shop and groceries, sporting goods (including fishing licenses). Across the street is good restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a large open area which can be used for casting practice or some casting games. We have already reserved the 'Rumpus Room' as a gathering place, it was very popular with the fly tyers last time.

JC and I have also offered to do a free casting clinic one morning for those interested in improving their casting. Although last fall anyone who asked for help with casting received it.

This is an excellent time of year to fish this area. The local rivers are considered Blue Ribbon, and are catch and release. (More information on the rivers is listed with links below).

Steelhead are available in the Clearwater, as some of last years attendees can verify, about an hour drive toward Lewiston. Over the Lolo Pass in the opposite direction into Montana the Clarks Fork, Bitterroot and Rock Creek are within two hours drive.

As with all FAOL events, everyone is cordially invited. There are no registration fees. Everyone is on their own, FAOL does not make reservations or arrangements for you. You are welcome to come for the whole week, or just a day. Whatever works for you. Families are welcome as well.

Reservations are being taken now. Ask for Marie and tell her you are with the Fly Anglers OnLine group. 1-888-926-4430.

We added a Tackle Table the past three years, in the Rumpus Room, where folks could buy/sell/trade/swap or haggle reels, lines, fly rods you no longer use...bring your new/used or cosmetically challenged gear. Someone else may have a good use for it. A lot of fur materials were also up for swap or free!

The links below will give more information on the rivers, and what flies are used at which times of the year.

It's a great time, and an opportunity to make new friends, and to put faces on names. This is my favorite time to fish the Rockies.
