Location

Lake Taneycomo is 22 miles and 2080 acres of crystal clear water nestled in beautiful Taney County, Missouri. Formed in 1913 with the construction of Powerstie Dam, Taneycomo is officially classified as a lake, however it's structure and function is more like that of a river. When Table Rock Dam was built in 1958, Taneycomo's water supply then became the clear cold water from the bottom of its reservior. The only thing trout need more than water is cold water. This, combined with Missouri's aggressive trout conservation and stocking programs have make Taneycomo an ideal place for the production of record-sized brown and rainbow trout (Thanks to RiverRunOutfitters.com website for help with this information.)

Accommodations:

General headquarters will be at the Branson KOA (http://www.bransonkoa.com for reservations,) clubhouse. The clubhouse is on the banks of Lake Taneycomo.

The campground features a swimming pool, basketball court, volleyball court, fame room, playground, horseshoes, fishing, a hiking trail and all-you-can-eat pancakes for breakfast ($2.00 per person.) You will need to bring your own bedding, (showers, restrooms, and 24 hour laundry rooms are there.) KOA 800 number for reservations: 800-562-4177.

For those who need motel accommodations, the Table Rock Inn is located directly across the street from the KOA. The motel consists of 17 spacious rooms each equipped with a refrigerator, coffee maker, cable TV, linens and towels. Each room has its own heating and air-conditioning unit.

There are four kitchenettes available equipped with cooking utensils and dishes. Picnic tables and grills are provided.

All rooms open to a large courtyard containing one of the largest swimming pools in the area. Smoking rooms are available.

The Table Rock Inn's Restaurant is open daily for breakfast lunch and dinner. Including breakfast buffets on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Fishing

The region is well known for it's excellent large rainbow and brown trout fisheries. More on the things you will need as this comes together. Reasonable expectations however, are for 14 to 18 inch fish on flies. Yes, there are some monsters.

Here is a site to get updated fishing reports: ozarkanglers.com.
