Tie-fast

Not at all, I really didn’t remember DM sold those…thanks.

I absolutely agree. I could not figure it out from the instruction booklet and the tool just sat in a pocket in my vest for a year, then it went to the bottom of a bin of fly tying materials for another year.

Now that I see the video I’m going to clip it back on my vest again.

Have you tried the hendrix’s outdoors nail knot tyer? It is a bit cooler looking, works just as well, and is about 1/3rd the price. The tie-fast is a durable tool tho (except nipper)!!
I like my hendrix better tho because the nipper on the tie-fast gets dull too fast :(. Have problems cutting line.

Or go with the Hendrix Outdoors combo tool. I have used tie -fast but the and love combo tools, but the tie fast is just too expenisive, the hendrix is a quality tool at only $6 versus about $15 fo the tiefast. It looks prrrety darn cool in Gold too!

Anyone used the one listed in the onepfoot site?

The Tie-Fast tool sells for $7.25 and is worth every penny.

I apologize for comparing apples to oranges. The Hendrix combo tool sells for about $6 and has a nipper and a needle to clear out a eye fly, exactly like the tie fast combo tool does, but the tie fast combo tool is almost three times the cost:

salt_flytyer, that is a sweet little tool and I do like that price. I can live without a $10.00!!! hook sharpener:D
Basically the same thing, but smaller…COOL!

Hmmm, I will have to look at mine, I thought it was the exact same thing as the tie fast, but maybe it doesnt have hook sharpener? Never could figure out how to use it on my tie fast combo tool anyways. If money is no object the tie fast combo tool has proven to be very durable except the nipper, just think the Hendrix looks cooler and is a great deal. For those not in the west Hendrix outdoors is a distributor in the west who are very focused on high quality (but tie fast is focused on high quality too). I have no relation to Hendrix nor profit, but am just glad you can finally get a quality combo knot tier tool that is a awesome price, and really niffty looking in the gold version.

Hendrix is LDS company, they will make sure to give both awesome quality AND customr service.

I have used the OnePfoot tool and it works great, although I think the Tie-Fast process goes a bit quicker. The OnePfoot is nice and small and compact, so it would be great to carry along on your vest to tie the occasional emergency knot in the field. However when you have alot of knots to tie at home at your bench, the Tie-Fast tool does make short work. Actually when I’m really in knot tying production mode, I like to use the magnum size Tie-Fast. There’s more space to make any required threading faster and easier.

As far as leaders. I use Furled the most, but I do make my own mono leaders so I bought the Frog Hair kit. The Blood knot tool is really easy that comes with it. One stage instead of two, but nice to see, in a pinch, that the Fast tie tool will work.

Can anyone describe how the blood knot tool works?
