Hi
I just introduced my young nephew to fly fishing and would like to send him a dvd for reference. Any suggestions.
Thanks
Dave
May I suggest Al Campbell’s tutorial here at FAOL?

Also try this one!

I would suggest that he go to the library and look at the videos there. Many on fly fishing and casting are availbale on interlibrary loan. Use your money to buy an item for fly fishing like a net.
Each time he uses that net he will think of you.
there are lots of videos on fly tying available on Youtube:

I will also second what Joe said about the Al Campbell articles here. additionally you should pick him up a couple of books on the subject with good illustrations and clearly written instructions.
So far most of the suggestions have been about flytying.
If you are asking about flyfishing instructional videos, nymph fishing basics from http://www.laughingrivers.com/ is pretty good.
You don’t say how old your young nephew is. That may help some. At the moment, I’m assuming a kid. I’d look as some of the late Mel Krieger videos because he’s easy to understand and his presentations are light hearted (more fun to watch).
…and there is a new one that his wife has produced. It’s exellant. This is a sample

The best thing you can do however is to take him fishing where he’ll have a great chance at success. A local bluegill pond is great!!! You have lots of those in your neck of the woods.
I thought this was fun to watch…
Here’s another one…
It always fascinates me to see how well kids pick this up if given the chance and the right kind of instruction. (KISS + FUN)
Whoops! Thought I read fly tying instead of fly fishing. Oh well, the fly tying will help too.
Larry Dahlberg’s “Panfish & Bass” DVD is the best I’ve seen:

I see I am in good company too Joe! That is alright because to me fly tying is part of fly fishing. Lots and lots of beginner fly fishing videos on youtube as well.
Well, since you ask about “fly fishing” and several responses deal with ‘fly tying’ only and not to your question, I’ll offer up my $0.02 for all that that’s worth:
Try the Lee Wulff video titled, “I Was Born To Fish - Lee Wulff On The Beaverkill”. In it Mr. Wulff talks about bugs, nature, the trout and its natural habitat, shows casting techniques and demonstrates tying 5 trout flies. This video is excellent.
