I used this only as an example. If you search Tilley hats, you will find a thousand similar deals.

Here is another option…

Brad,

Thanks for the info, I have been watching ebay for while now looking for a Tilley hat in 7 3/8 size in that price range and havent seen one yet. I will check out Tilley website.

I’ve been lurking on this thread, but this mention of Tilley sizing prompted me to make a response. Make sure you get the proper size for your Tilley hat. I almost bought one too small last year, as I was unaware of their sizing recommendations. They recommend that the hat not fit tightly on your head. I bought a hat about 1/4 inch larger than my normal hat size. This makes the hat a lot cooler and you won’t worry about it falling off with their strap system.

I’m kind of partial to my straw cowboy hat. It can be seen on my head in the “Put a face to a name” thread. A good shade hat works for me most of the time.

Check out Noggintops. Ibought from them several times over the years…great service & one of the best selections you will find.

You need one of these, a sombrero.

Sooo many options!! Thanks guys.

I found it! I found your perfect fly fishing hat! Since some on this site don’t understand what “don’t want to spend a lot means” perhaps they will pitch in and buy it for you as a gift!

Of course there is the problem of getting the current wearer of the hat to sell it to you.

I already said my Tilley is the “best” but that’s just since I moved north… I have a well-worn Columbia “flats” style hat with a slightly long and wide bill and the neck-ear drape made out of SPF 1,000,000 or something material. I wore it all the time down south. Cool and kept me from getting fried.

My favorite hat…it’s just me.

I don’t get it, everyone posting their favorite hat and adding links, but only two actual pictures with said hats???

or the white straw

And of course, a baseball cap.

LOL…Said hat.

Tilley in the summer.

Baseball cap in the winter.

That’s a Cap, a hat has a brim all the way around. Protects you ears from the sun and errant flies. My boonie hat last seen floating down the hooch as I crawled out with my fishcat on my back and my summer fishing hat.

hey Fly Goddess, I like that one hat. What brand is it and where can I get it? Thanks!

It has ear flaps:

Not cheap like the Outback, but note in the picture they use of me for my articles I seem to be wearing the same hat as FlyGodess.
That one is HEAVY and WARM and perfect for mountain fishing. Not so good for warm weather.
My personal recommendation for warmwater headwear is not a full brim hat but a baseball cap with a buff or neck gaiter. Bass pro has their version on sale for $13.
