My 2 cents. I bought some Dai Riki 125 hooks on the advice of a friend along with some other styles. About every 4 out of 10 hooks shattered when I tried to crimp the barbs. I began tying with Mustads and they are sharp, but lose their points quickly and don’t have much backbone. I fish about 75 days a year. I think Tiemco hooks hold their hook points very well and are strong hooks. I also found Daiichi hooks to be of good quality. I haven’t used the Mustad Signature series hooks, but I presume they must be of better quality, since they charge so much more for them. That all being said, I have a buddy that says he doesn’t buy expensive hooks because it doesn’t take long to lose one under a rock. I agree with that to an extent. If I latch on to a 20-inch brown I’d rather fight it on a well made hook. To me that means Tiemco or Daiichi. Just one man’s opinion and everybody has one.
