Line cleaning and lube

While looking into the proper way of cleaning and lube my line, ZipCast seems to come up as one of the best. When I talked to a good fishing friend of mine about ZipCast he says all he ever used is WD-40 with no problem with his line and he has fished them for a few years and he is a very active fisherman. Just wondering if anyone here has had any expeirence with WD-40.
