Brookies are fall spawners. Out of spawning season, the colors on the male can very drab. Unless your first picture was taken in the fall, I wouldn't bet my life on that fish being a female. I agree with all the others.
I sometimes play the same game. Some are obvious, others not so much.
I have a really hard time with guessing female browns that are really old.
Have guess on this one? Female maybe?
