AMEN, qfen! If its about the fishing, the medalist is hard to beat. If its about the equipment, well, then its not about the fishing. I like having a rig that doesnt have to be re-cased every time, and if I slip, the equip can break my fall instead of vice-versa. I've gotta give the folks at The Feathered Hook in PA a shout out for sending me a P foot for my "vintage" (made in USA) reel so it fits my graphite rod - the old foot was a little thick and did not seat well. Plus the new screws fit perfect and I could replace the ones I have lost. I have read a drop of ZAP A GAP will take care of losing screws, however, I have not tried it. I bought my 1494DA new from Harry Murray in Edinburg 30+ years ago, so I guess I am "vintage" also, although the medalist maybe has held up a little better
