    A moose bow hunt is on my bucket list.
    A big bull at bow range with his hackles up because some fraud made sounds like his adversary is truly an adversary... and arrows take long enough to do their work that a guy might get a little anxious about it all...

    It's all about the doin'

    Life is all about the experience.

    I have had three different bears, two blacks and a huge Kodiak brown, die just off my boot tops, literally... the experience thing becomes over-rated at that point.

    It was a lot of work and the work is not over yet! We still have hundreds of pounds of meat to process... And I am not complaining!

    Thanks!

    I think moose hunting is over-rated! Sadly, I will have forgotten that by next season!

    Art,

    Loved the story! Sounds like a segment off "Alaska Wild!" Thanks for taking the time to share.

    BTW... The only hair packed out was on the head and I just skinned it today. The face hair is extremely nice gray/brown/black and very uniform length stuff that would be lighter than hock hair or selected out as one of the three colors.

    I will dry it and see what is there. The leather is ridiculously thick and will take a long time to dry. It will likely require the band saw to cut it into chunks, but I should have a half-dozen or so nice big chunks. Anyone that has already posted on this thread gets first dibs.

    By ridiculously thick I mean the hide is easily 1/2" thick!

    Art;
    That was a great read. Thanks. Never had the permit here in Maine. But went with freinds, not as much work as you people have to do. And really love the taste of Moose.

    They often come to town to visit us here lol
