Fished the AuSable first weekend in June last year. Caught the green drake hatch, along with march browns.

The first night was unreal, with the above there were also stones and lots of caddis in the air. Couldn't tell you how many my fishing partner and I caught just below the dam in Wilmington, using Fran's parachute coffin fly.

The second day we hired a guide from Fran's shop, a guy named Shane. Between two of us we caught about 20, including three browns in the 18" range. There were some black flies, but the bug spray took care of them.

Somebody mentioned a better source of info than Fran's shop, I might have to agree. I don't think Fran gets around too well, so most of what he knows is from his guides and visitors. The guides don't want to give up their "honey holes", so I think the info might be a little skewed.

There is plenty of fishable water to spread people out, but expect crowds in the flat water awaiting the evening hatch.

Beautiful scenery and well worth our 13-15 hour drive.
