The lip is part of the foam body. I picked up the foam template at tying class last spring, and used it to make my own foam pieces. I'll see if I still have the template, I may have used it for one of them, and take a picture.

I have no idea how the action will be. I'm a bit lame right now and probably won't get a chance to test them for at least a month. I tied either a piece of a worm weight or a rattle on the bottom of the hook shank behind the hook eye. I dropped them in a container of water, and they ride straight and the lip is sitting below the surface. I think the lip is wide enough so the fly won't twist when I retrieve, and I may have to play with the tail. I used half a dragon tail for them and haven't decided whether to let them soak up water or try and waterproof them.
