Playing around with dapping flies and found this one on a U.K. forum; kind of an untrimmed Spundun in a perpendicular orientation. Still looking for the proper WOIGO; added a bit more tan to the Rit Old Gold formula and came up a little too dark but it provided a neat shade that might work here as a western March Brown (not that the fish are going to be that particular about it anyway).

tail - deer hair dyed golden olive (2 1/2 Tsp Rit Golden Yellow, 3/4 Tsp Rit Tan/4 cups water)

body - dubbing ginger
body hackle - grizzly dyed golden olive
hackle - deer hair dyed golden olive

mash barb, start thread and leave it 1 eye width back from the eye
clean, stack, measure (hook length) a clump of deer hair
trim to length, take 2 soft loops, tighten, spin, trim butts and wrap to bend
clean, stack, measure (shank length) a smaller clump of deer hair; tie in
tie in rib, wrap to bend
