Ralph, I think the Martin was my first reel. It served me well. My favorite for the last 20-30 years is my Hardy Princess. Such a smooth beautiful reel!
It wasn't quite so expensive when I bought mine (even allowing for inflation, I think), but now, I think they are $300+, but believe they would be well worth it at that price.
