    Cool tie, Scott. Do you have a little history on this pattern? Just curious.

    Bruce,

    Here's where I found it

    http://www.shetlandtrout.co.uk/shetland-fly-box.html

    Pretty nice writeup on the fly's origins.

    Thanks, Scott. So this was originally tied as a caddis. There are some great patterns on that site.

    Scott;
    That clear plastic clip you have to hold the deer hair looks interesting. May I ask where/how I can find such a thing?
    Living in rural Ontario Canada puts me at a disadvantage for getting my hands on unique fly tying tools locally, so mail order/on line is my way of obtaining such.
    Muddlers are my love and I try to obtain every pattern and tie each one I can find, for a home project shadow box display for each pattern.........for my years of retirement tying of course.
    Thanks again for showing us such a huge collection of SBS teachings to help us all here a FAOL to become better tiers.
    Merry Christmas from Canada!

    David,

    The clip is part of a Marc Petitjean Magic Tool set; lots of places sell them online. You could make-do with something like a bulldog clip, but it's nice to be able to see thru it and not guess at lengths.

    Cool technique with the clip Scott. Have to try that.
