Thread: Dyeing GSP thread

    Default Dyeing GSP thread

Anyone dye GSP tying thread? I have two sizes of white GSP tying thread and thinking about dyeing a needed length of thread with a Sharpie pen. What do you think?

It is very difficult to dye GSP. That is why it comes in so few colors. If you use colored GSP backing on your reel, you will notice that the color is really not dyed in and will bleed off it when wet. If you can get some of the color from a sharpie pen to stick, test it by washing it and see if it all comes off.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I suspected it was too good to be true

Orris is finally carrying 12/0, 50D. Nano Silk in colors. It is a GSP thread:

It is made by Semperfli and also comes in deniers...

Try wrapping another colored thread over the top of the GSP.
Then use a little head cement.

Hook and Hackle is carrying Nanosilk what they call a "hybrid GSP" I have not tried it yet only because I don't have my next order fully assembled.
