Byron, the hackle is v-notched gap length on all three. The pattern is supported in the film on all three. Clipped hackle will still keep a fly in the film, but doesn't suspend a pattern such as a Catskill style pattern may. the LTD hangs in the film by the CDC loop with the abdomen and tail submerged. The CDC Dun lays completely flat in the film since its also sparsely hackled. The thorax rides dry, but very low.
