Thread: Double L Rods?

    Default Double L Rods?

Anybody know who makes the new Double L rods these days? I know Loomis did for a few years, and their lower end are all off-shore. But I just had a chance to cast this years 8'6" 4wt Double L rod, and it was particularly nice. It has the look and feel of some of the earlier Sage LL's? Anybody by-chance know?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ralph

OK, I answered the question myself. With a sale going on and cash from another rod in hand, I went with the 8'6" 4wt. It came today. Sticker on the rod said "Made in China".

First go-round is very nice however. It's built at a very high level, with no flaws I could identify even with close scrutiny. Not to mention that it has the nicest cork that I think I have seen on ANY rod in quite some time.

I threw a Teton Tioga #4 on it with an Orvis WF4 line. After 20 minutes I have to say that this thing casts extremely nice! A mid-flex action which I like, it's light in hand and tracks perfect. Very very pleased.

    Good for you NJ.

I have moved away from the fast rods and now prefer a more mid-flex action.
My rod of choice is now probably my Sage ZXL in a 9' five wt 4pc.
