Okay, I'm looking for suggestions. I love the SBS posted here, try to imprint them on my feeble gray matter. What is the most efficient way to use as I tie? I know someone has developed a technique that will help!
Thanks,
Mike

If you want to print them off, you can copy and paste into a word document, from there you can either print or save it to a folder on your computer.
Yeah, saving and printing is an option. I've done it before and I guess that is the way to go again.
Thanks,
Mike
I'd suggest trying Evernote (http://evernote.com/). It's basically a web clipping / note taking application. It will work on your PC, Tablet, and Smartphone and your notes are sync'ed to the cloud so that they are easily shared among devices. Make sure you get the web clipping plug-in for your browser. And, it's free (up to a fairly large cloud storage limit).
Basically you mark any information -- text and / or images -- you are viewing in your browser and then click the Evernote button in your browser and Evernote will create a note with the information. Then you can view the note, edit the note -- maybe you don't need all of the pictures or you want to add a comment / tip of your own, and print the note. You can also organize your notes in different notebooks and put tags on them -- for example, you could have a notebook for "Flies" and tags for "Dry Flies", "Nymphs", etc. Notebooks and tags make it easier to find your notes later.
Thanks John. I'll have to switch to the laptop from the Mac, but it might be easier than cutting, pasting and resizing everything on the Mac. Just checked, I'll need a new Mac to run it. I need a higher system than I have now. Well, been thinking about an update anyway!

There's probably a better way but I use...
CutePDF Writer...it creates a pdf file and it's free
Click on it...it's in my printer
Click print
It doesn't actually print it but asks what folder I want the pdf to go to so I send it to the appropriate folder in my computer.
If it's one that I especially want to have handy I may do a hard copy
This will grab a whole thread or a whole FOTW or whatever I highlight if I don't want the whole thread.
I copy/pasted a bunch of Scott's to a MSWord document. Do a "Select All" command, copy, paste, eliminate the "Stuff" that was included in the copy. That way I can print it off or share it with a friend as desired.

On the iMac, I use OS 10's Textedit to create a folder of flies and techniques. Textedit is simpler that MS word, It boots faster and saves as a smaller file so I prefer it over MS Word. Plus all version of textedit files will be forever compatible with the future Apple OS text editors. If you want to sent a file to someone, you can copy and paste textedit to MS Word and send it.
Open Textedit and create an "untitled' document
First I copy the URL of the post as the first line of the text file.
Then I highlight the text in the relevant post, use Command-C for to copy, then Command-V to paste into textedit. Command-S to save the textedit, and rename it from "untitled" to what the post is about. For example, you can using key words for techniques or fly names for fly patterns. Then save to the Desktop with that name.
I have a "Flies and Fly Tying" folder that I save these to. Select the "Find" command under the Finder "File" pull down menu to search for words in either the text or file names. You can display the search results alphabetically or by saved date.
I use the "Dock" on Desktop for making a quick custom menu to access all my fly fishing folders. I organize everything by subfolders. The "Flies and Fly Fying" folder is a subfolder in the "Fly Fishing" folder that is itself a subfolder of my "Documents" folder.
Make an alias of the "Fly Fishing" folder and then move that alias into the section of the Dock that contains the main application folder and your main Administrator folder. Ir will become a separate Dock menu folder that you can go to and select the file you want to open.
I have five folders in this area. In addition to Fly Fishing folder, I have :
Applications
My administrator name folder that contains all my stuff
Documents
Favorites - this is a folder contain aliases of the stuff I access frequently so I don'y need to dig down trough file folders. The real Favorites folder is in my Admin folder and will stay there. I make an alias of the "Favorites" that I place on the Dock. If you accidentally remove something from the Dock it vanishes so I can always reconstitute it from the permanent "Favorites" folder.
I'm sure there is a way to organize a PC in the same way.

Thanks Silver Creek! I just tried that and bang - all in! When I used MS Word I had to drag the pictures in to save them. That was a drag! Using TextEdit is soooo much cleaner. I appreciate it. I'll try your system of organization also.
Thanks again,
Mike
I second Evernote. There are Evernote "clipper" extensions for both Chrome and Firefox. You just click a button and it takes a copy of the entire page and files it automatically into a notebook of your choice. Evernote syncs across different machines and platforms (Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, Android, etc).
Of course, now I have tons of SBS filed to my notebooks, but not enough time to tie them all.
