Both. The're just different experiences. I always catch more fish when alone, but that's not the whole story. I love watching others fly fish close-up.

I am a loner when I am out fishing. I do enjoy going out with my buddy and my pop when we go but for the most part I prefer to be alone because I am concentrating on what I am doing and like to move around a lot without the aggravation of someone else.

Your hooks sharp????
I don't have any friends so I fish alone *BG*
I DO like fishing alone. I concentrate a bit more I think. But I also appreciate having a friend along so we can share and gab on the way to another port of the river.
If I fish with someone, I much prefer to spilt up, maybe 100-200 or more yards apart, depending on the river structures.
Company is fun but I guess I get a bit serious when my fly hits the water.

Hi Folks,
I like to fish alone, and with others!
It's all good. When I fish with others, it
is from my little bass boat. While I enjoy
the company and sharing the days highlights
as they occur, I do feel a little bit of
pressure to get them on fish. Not from them
but just because I'm in the front of the
boat running the trolling motor. I do ask
for input and try to give them options.
On the days that I fish alone, it is
perceptably more relaxing. I'll fish a spot
harder, longer, maybe make more fly changes,
and generally I catch more fish in the
process. That said, there are quite a few
folks I would LOVE to fish with. Mostly
here on the boards, challenged by geography
with too many states between us for it to be
practical.*G* Besides, when that really
special fish comes along, it's great to have
a witness to your success and someone to
take the picture.*G* Warm regards, Jim
I seldom fish alone, & when I do, it's on a nearby pond or two where the pond owner will stop out to visit. I fish with several friends, most often young Mike Murgida from this board. I also can't wait until the grandchildren start fishing with me, & the 2 oldest granddaughters want to try it this year.

FAOL..All about caring, sharing, & good friends!!
I enjoy both. The trick is to find someone who is as hardcore as you are
I usually fish alone. I had two fishing buddies. One got cancer and died and the other has cancer and can't go with me very often. I tend to walk miles to get to spots to fish and not many people are willing to do that.

I rarely ever get any time alone so fishing "alone time" is rather precious to me. That being said, it always is good to get out with an old friend and put lines in for hours. As a matter of fact I had a buddy drive down four hours for the weekend to put in some serious time... Ironically though (as someone else had mentioned) we didnt catch a thing! I have been catching some beautiful trout this season, and my one chance to share my success with someone was blown! This, of course, was quite a bummer. However, it was a little humbling. It reminded me that i'm not out there to show off the fish I catch. That being said, it still is nice to get the old "nice fish" thumbs up from down the stream.
Tough answer. I have a really good fishing partner that I enjoy spending time with on the water. I also enjoy heading out with the wife, even though she doesn't really fish that much.
On the other hand, fishing alone or with my dog is one of my favorite experiences.
It all depends on my mood and desires.
