Nice Byron, one of the main reasons I like CdC drys is that they land more gently on the water than many others. I know sometimes you want them to plop down, but when you don't CdC is the way to go. Have you ever tried an MP style dun? They are no more difficult to tie than your Sparkle / Comparaduns, but very different. CdC fibres in either a dubbing loop or split thread, wound as a thorax but teased up as you wind. Then split with floss to make wings. If you want flies for streams then they are good.
