When is was over we had traveled 6,513 miles over 30 days averaging 17 mpg pulling the camper. Total cost of fuel was $1337.00, the high was $4.259 the low was $3.229, the average was $3.64. The cost of camping was $540.62, Motels/camping cabins $157.54. Fishing licences were $173.25 each. We started off kicking in $200.00 each for groceries and mutual expenses but we soon found this to be short of the actual costs. Tolls through Chicago were $46.00 and then there was ice and campfire wood that we forgot to include in the expenses as well as laundry costs ($300.00 each would have been a closer estimate)!
We pretty much had Chamber of Commerce weather during the whole trip. the hot days sure out numbered the cold ones!! But I did have to put on gloves to break camp in St Regis (28 degrees!!)!! The cold rain in Livingston caused us to leave the "Tool Bag" behind but we picked it up on the trip back.
The funnyest story of the trip occured in St Maries, ID when we stopped at the "Goose" to get our ID licence's. My brother Ron is well known there and when the cute blond saw my name she said "Hey Ron it must be nice to Fish with your DAD"!! Needless to say it was my brother that let her know that i was his older brother!! She was not a bit detered by this fox paw and went on to claim all my change and remark that she had probably saved my life by getting all that weight out of my pockets!! You can't win an argument with a blond in Idaho!!
Did we make mistakes on "The Trip"? You bet! Where they so bad we regeted them? Well there were a couple!! But we are talking about doing it again next year.
I know that Brad has a lot to add to this but I'll close by saying "Do It, you'll never regret it"!!
