You also make a good point. It would be tough to make a go of it on $9.60 per hour as a Simms sewing maching operator.

However, also according to the Simms Web site, the job is entry level, with the chance for higher wages with seniority, time in service, etc.

Also, it looks like the sewing machine operators receive health insurance and other benefits.

In a family where both parents are working, a job like that can help make ends meet.

Let me add this disclaimer that I don't know much about Simms except that I have a pair of their waders, which I believe are good quality.
