i personally would have kept it.
That fish is a carnivore and a cannibal.
It eats other trout and has eaten numerous.
When trout get that old their seeds have been planted for
almost a decade and it more than likely is shooting
blanks nowadays. That is a trout of a lifetime and
I will NOT fault anyone for taking a trout in that condition.
