    Default Old Mustad Hooks

Okay, as I was attempting to survey the mounds of material that litter my area, I have boxes of O. Mustad hooks from my uncle. My questions are - I don't think, but are these "antiques" worth more than the face value of the hooks and old, at least 30 years, boxes. Since they are probably not, is there a cross reference, I know I had it somewhere, of the old styles, 3356 eg, that I can refence to get their proper use? I'm not good enough, well after a lot of work, be good enough to catergorize them.
    Thanks,
    Mike

theres cross reference material on the mustad website but i doubt it will tell you the value

another place to check is ebay to see what others may be asking for them

From what I've seen, the old Mustads, provided they're in new-condition (no rusting, etc), command about what you'd expect to pay for modern mustads in a fly shop, maybe a bit less.

As far as uses, just compare their styles to current models, or take pics and throw them up here.

    Looking to sell any?

Here's a bunch of different ones, in the order that I use them. The first one I like the most it gives a picture of the hook.

When printing the first one make sure to change it from Portrait to Landscape or you'll get four pages of one column each which shows Dai-Riki

I bought about 5k of older mustad hooks that are no longer made. I like the looks of them so I will use them. I doubt if they are worth more now unless a somone is willing to pay more over amodern hooks. So I just use them and enjoy catching fish with them.

If you got 5K of them hold on to em, once the older ones get harder to find you'd be surprised how much they'll go up. When the guys who do presentation flies or classic period flies and start needing those hooks you'd be amazed how much they'll go for.

Well, seems like either Pawn Stars or American Pickers is not coming to break my door down! I figure I'll keep them, tie with them and think of my uncle who is big reason I am what I am. Fishing and being a great person - learned it from him!

That what I figured that will eventually happen. I like Mustad up eye dry hooks that I gathered up. I doubt if I make a dent in what I have.

I buy old Mustads when ever I find what I want. They go in price from about $3.00/hundred to about $9.00/hundred. The are a few exceptions and one is the 277's that go for anywhere from 40.00 to $100.00 a box.
