New Zealand Earthquake

Mike and Jeff. I hope you and your families are all safe. My goodness that was a tragic earthquake. I think we are reconcidering going to the south island now. Being from So Cal, we are kind of used to rocking but there is not a need to put ourselves in harm's way. Jim

Hi Jimm, I would not worry too much about visiting the South Island, it is a truly stunning place and is probably just as safe as it has ever been. I would however plan to spend as little time as possible in Christchurch City, it will still be a mess and it will take a long time to clear the rubble and make the buildings safe, let allone start to rebuild.

Yes, thanks everyone, we're all fine here in Auckland. Jax should be good too as he's just down Rotorura way (about 2.5-3 hours from Auckland). Christchurch is quite a long way from here. Looks pretty bad down that way though. Jim, I wouldn't skip the South Island though as Mike says, steer clear of Christchurch. The south island is pretty big, and it's amazing country.
