It is 65 sunny with winds out of the south at 25 mph. I am going to go flyfishing for gills for the first time this year.

That's a fish every 2.5 minutes. That will be a tough rate to match for the entire year. Good start.

I hear that Olathe is the warmest part of KS because that's where that hot chick, Miss Betty, lives.

Congrats, Steve! Your first flyrod fish(ies) of the year!
Our local river is open, but the local lakes & ponds are still pretty much 99% ice covered...just some open water along some of the edges. The 10-day forecast is calling for one day in the 40's...otherwise mid-30's and temps below freezing every night...so not much deicing is going to occur for awhile yet.
Thanks for posting a pic...that open water is a welcome sight for those of us north of you!

Around here we are at that uncomfortable time of year where the ice is to soft to walk on and yet -IT IS STILL THERE!

I got out Saturday for a couple hours and caught 5 or 6 small to medium gills. Switched spots several times looking for bigger fish, but no luck. Sunday the south wind was 40+ so we took the grandgirls to the park. We put rocks in the little one's pockets and a good time was had by all.
