Thread: Anyone have info on if hair is hollow or not?

    Hap....you been watching too much Tred Barta or what? LOL! I think he makes the same claim on Big-eyed Tuna :^)

    Call it what you may...."hollow"....or "chambered"...but some hair has more air pockets than others. Caribou is one of those hairs with much more air depending on the part of the body & is excellent for spinning. Location is as important as species though. Good deer hair is better than poorly selected caribou hair. As is, northern deer are far more "hollow" than coastal deer.

    Underfur, will always have far less air than the guard hairs on every species.

    Not sure about the data on Whitetail bucks not "chasing". Interesting conclusions. In the North Cascades the WDF&G classified the Blacktail on the east slope as hybrids, due to cross-breeding of the Mule deer and Blacktail. I believe the record books due as well now?
