Do the TFO rods tend to be on the heavy side????
Do the TFO rods tend to be on the heavy side????
"Heavy" is a rather subjective term. As compared to?

Let's see if I can get there...
I'm thinking of getting a 10' 5 wt rod that won't be too tiring...hope that's not an oxymoron.
I have a 10' 6/7 Red.fly that seems a little heavy to me but I don't know what it weighs. However I see Redington 10' 7 wt this year is 4.0 oz in 6 wt.[again mine is 6/7]
TFO 10' 5wt is 4.2.
So I'm assuming the TFO's are running heavier...true????
I'm trying to compare 10' 5 wt rods and not get into the spendy ones.
Actually after I first posted I went to H & H site and they may have what I want ..Ron's getting a call this PM.
Their brand.. but the St. Croix LE is also tempting but maybe too fast...also spendy since it may not be used much....
After those considerations I suppose it's hard to advise me????...no way I can cast them...
Its not the same weight but I have a 8'6" 4wt in both a TFO and a Forecast. The TFO feels a ton lighter both in its weight and action. Thats TFO compared to Forecast now if you compared the TFO to a St. Croix or a G-Loomis then it would be a different story.
My TFO 6wt 9' rods are lighter than my Red.Fly 6wt 9' rod. Hope that helps.

My New Year's resolution is to have more fun...even if YOU don't.
It also depends on the TFO model.
the Series 1 rods are a bit heavy, the pro models feel lighter. I'm assuming the TiCR are on par with others in that price range.
LF, step in...there are two sponsors involved.....
I really value your opinion....
why don't you just go to the sites of the rods you have in question and look at the weights.
I really don't think most folks will be able to discern a two tenths of an ounce of a difference (4.0 vs 4.2) bewteen rods over a day of fishing. You may find that the action of a rod or the distribution of the weight along the blank may have more impact on how 'heavy' it feels to you. Personally, I often find this to be the case rods of nearly identical weight.
Why do you want LF to save you? I would humbly suggest that you find a way to get the rods in question in your hands and cast them and then buy the one you like.
