try a Peak for a whole lot less, weighs something like 4 pounds

I actually went to and prefer the Bigfoot base. Larger and heavier. Check it out. About $40.

I agree with flybug on this one...Peak base ~$40...Regal ~$125...Holds vise solidly (both do) I place those little round magnets from the craft store to hold hooks-works well on the steel base of the Peak...not at all on the Regal (bronze)...E-Bay has one here .
