Just read an article in Mid-Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide that stated that at 1' chartreuse changes to yellow, or appears yellow to fish. As much of their comfortable forage has some form of yellow in it and is not threatening, they respond. Thus, maybe, the success of the "green weenie".

However, just finished this article, and it also seems to support the theory in a more scientific manner than experience.
