I think if you approach the stream bumbling and stomping, acting like you don't even KNOW there's fish in there, you'll be in luck. Bring a zebco strung up with flourescent 12lb stren, complete with treble hook and 1 oz. weight to complete the disguise!
Seriously though, if there has been any major current flow, I'd look downstream.
