Thread: The Ron Tidd FEB

  1. #1

    Default The Ron Tidd FEB

Ron is doing an outstanding job as FAOL's "tech flunky" ( to quote Ron himself ).

In appreciation of his work and contributions, I decided to tie a fly in his honor and dedicate it to him.

    The Ron Tidd FEB.

That would be a FURLED EARTHWORM BAIT fly.

Thanks much for what you have been doing, Ron.

    Default Ron Tidd

Ron has been thrown into the deep end since Jim's passing, and has done a fantastic job. I think the site looks better than ever, and the changes were made without affecting us, the users, in any way. This can't be said of other sites. Some of them are still not working well after some format changes.

    Default Emerger

Hey John, That looks like an Earthworm Emerger to me, but from what I've read, most appropriate.
    Thanks for being the techie,Ron

Hmmm... I suspect there's something about being furled at both ends that is quite fitting as well. We do appreciate you, Ron!!

    Talking Important Question

    Hi John,

Is there any significance to the fact that Ron's fly is rather tightly wound? Just kidding Ron, you're doing a wonderful job and your efforts are greatly appreciated. 8T

    And also, Blue?
What ya' tryin' ta say there, John?
I wonder if it would work tied in wacky-worm style?
I'll bet the 'gills around here would love some of that. Now, if it will just quit raining on the weekends.

    Default HMMMm

so since that video got under my skin, I decided to get into this tossing fly fad.

I figured I'd start slow, get to know the business end of the weapon of choice, and tie some flies.

    First off you guys rock.
Second off just for this... THIS WILL BE MY FIRST attempted fly.
And I'm going to fish it until I get a fish too!!!.. Well not exclusively.. but you get the idea.... ROFL.

Tightly wound??????? WHAT THE H E Double hockey sticks you talkin bout?!@!!!

    Ummm nevermind...

    Unhappy Close but ....

    Ron -

I fished the Ron Tidd FEB fly on the South Fork for a while this evening. On the second or third cast after I broke it off somehow and replaced it with an REE FEB Whitefish Slaying Salmonfly Nymph, I hooked into a near U.S. record length mountain whitefish.

Just think, if I hadn't broken off the Ron Tidd FEB and cast it to the same area, the first fish on your namesake fly might have been that big one !!

Not to worry, I think I will tie up a couple more and see if I can catch a real pretty fish tomorrow with the FEB - one that REE would be happy to catch with any fly.
