Depends on where you find them. Your typical Appalachian mountain stream brook trout isn't dumb, just opportunistic. I've fished for them in spring creeks, too, and they can be downright finnicky.

But there's no place I'd rather be than fishing up a Shenandoah NP east-sloper with a handful of elk hair caddis, stimulators and ants. And maybe a nymph or two.
