I decided to take a little longer drive today to go after some smallmouth bass. The first couple hours were disappointing. I hooked a half dozen somethings but couldn't keep anything on the line long enough to see what it was. Every time I'd think I'd have one for sure, it would shake loose. Things finally turned around though.
First with this nice rockbass on a black and blue crayfish pattern.
Then with my first nice smallmouth of the year on a natural PSC(JohnScott's pattern). Luckily someone was walking by to take a quick picture for me.
Then got a little guy on the PSC.
Hooked and lost another small one, then ended the day on the biggest smallmouth I've caught to date, again on the PSC. Nobody was around to take a picture this time so I had to settle for a picture with the rod.
It was a great day to just be out. Beautiful weather, nice scenery, saw some baby turtles, lots of birds, and one white tail deer. Definitely well worth the extra drive today to get to this stream.
