Post May 24, 2009-Beaver Tailwaters, Ark

Met two friends at Bathhouse early this morning(side note-they have rebuilt the bathouse). The fog was extremely thick and the fish were very finicky. Started out on scuds and tried midges, softhackles, and copperjohns. Bites were very light. My wiming on setting the hook was off today for some reason. Saw a few small browns landed, and a few rainbows. Water was very high from Taney holding water. If we get alot of rain and have to open any of the gates, water will get high fast. The shoals at Bathouse were not shoals, just a quick shoot. Watched as a friend pulled a few bows out of the tailout. He let me step in to try out his rod(custom 10' 4wt) and using one of the "thingamabobber". Got a few great casts and drifts, but just wasnt setting the hook well.

Howdy Zhoyt. Bummer about not hookin' up. Cool thing is, ya got to go fishin'. I think that's why they call it "FISHING" and not "CATCHING". Been there done that. Jim

Patience and persistence - it will happen. Good luck.
