this question has been lurking around in my head for a while and I gotta get it out:

Me and Beaucephus are from the heart of Dixie and intend staying here, so I, at least, have never had reason to lay eyes on a spool of ice fishing thread. How?some?ever, I occasionally see Bass Pro and Cabela?s sales that include fluorocarbon, copolymer, and braid ice fishing lines down to 2lb?test, some to 1lb?test and ?0.25lb equivalent diameter?. Does making such a line suitable for sub?zero temps include giving them characteristics that also rule them out for furling purposes? Just off hand, it would seem like they?d be prime candidates
