May not be the smallest but qualifies for one of the smallest:
Jeff
I caught a 2 1/2" brown on a size 14 flying black ant a couple months back. That would have to go down as my smallest fish ever.
Marty
My brother-in-law once caught a creek chub less than 2 inches long on a #14 Royal Wulff. We laughed about that for weeks.
Although the pic of Marty's fish might show an even smaller fish...

Thanks all!
Boy! Thank God I'm not the only one catching small fish!
When I first got my Scott, the guys were catching trout (like they usually do) while I was getting skunked. Flogged the whole damn stream all damn day and SUDDENLY...christened that stupid rod with a 2 inch shiner. Tomato juice busted open in my vest; packed down with all sorts of junk like some pack mule heading for the Klondike; and this shiner.
I wanted to sell everything I had.
Well that was about...say...5 years ago. And here I am..7 years of flyfishing and loving it. Still catch chubb and sunfish..and ..yes..even shiners, and I don't mind it all one damn bit!
Again, thanks!
Like a lot of you I think my smallest was about 2 1/2 inches, and I have caught that size on 2 1/2 in hardbaits as well. One of the most interesting was hooking one of those small guys and then seeing that fish clobbered by a huge smallie which really upped the ante. It is all fun, that's for sure.
Good Tying and Good Fishing!
Bob
if i am flyfishing and i hook an itty-bitty and a bigger fish takes that, am i fishing with bait? will i go to H@#$?
fly fishing and baseball share a totally deceptive simplicity; that's why they can both be lifelong pursuits.
