It's an analogy for life that at the end of the day, I can live with. When I come home from work and realize the mountains I have and have not summited, I have to cope somehow. When I fish, that pleasure of being alone, coping with windy, or hot, or rainy, or unproductive days puts perspective to everything. Yet it is so mindless, pleasurable, exciting and though either good or bad, always keeps you coming back for more.

it was something i always wanted to try, so i did, and learned this

its not as easy as it looks, its relaxing, its usually not crowded,
for the freshwater simply put as ive seen quoted before "trout don't live in ugly places"
for salt catching on bait is easy, a fly takes alot of patience.

First and Foremost, it makes me feel good. I've always enjoyed fishing, but this is different. After just 1/2 season of ff, I know I'm hooked. I agree with most if not all the reasons cited in previous posts. Two of the things I believe make ff more enjoyable are the level of concentration required and catching a fish with one's own creation. There just isn't time to fret about anything else and I'll never forget how childishly giddy I felt catching my first brookie on a fly I tied.
